Looking to bring home a furry friend? Dubai Municipality has made the process easier with a new digital pet adoption platform that lets residents browse cats and dogs online before booking a visit to the newly opened Animal Welfare Shelter in Al Warsan.
The platform allows you to view each pet’s photo, breed, age, gender and personality, helping you find the right companion before meeting them in person.
How to adopt a pet
Adopting a pet is simple:
- Browse available cats and dogs on the website or the DubaiNow app.
- Log in using your UAE PASS.
- Choose the pet that suits your lifestyle and home.
- Book a visit to the Animal Welfare Shelter.
- Meet the animal and complete the adoption process.
Before the adoption is finalised, the shelter team will speak with you to ensure you can provide a safe and suitable home while offering guidance on caring for your new pet.
Is adoption free?
Yes. Adoption is free, but you’ll need to pay the veterinary service fees, which cover:
- Registration
- Microchipping
- Vaccinations

- Cats: Dh240
- Dogs: Dh271.50
What does every pet receive?
Before joining its new family, every animal receives:
- Veterinary examination
- Vaccinations
- Microchipping
- Medical treatment, if required
- Final health assessment
Who can adopt?
To adopt a pet, you must:
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Provide a safe and suitable home.
- Complete the approved adoption process.
- Commit to responsible pet ownership.
- Have no record of animal abuse.
Which animals are available?
Pets available for adoption include those that:
- Have been surrendered by their owners.
- Have been rescued as strays.
- Were not claimed within the legally required period.
Every pet listed for adoption is vaccinated, microchipped, registered, neutered or spayed, in good health and from an approved breed.
