Louvre Abu Dhabi Art Here 2026: Open call for $60,000 art prize

Louvre Abu Dhabi is officially looking for its next masterpiece. The museum has launched an open call for Art Here 2026, expanding the competition to India for the first time.

The sixth edition of this flagship initiative, held in partnership with Richard Mille, invites artists to submit proposals for site-specific monumental artworks.

  • The Prize: One winner will receive the prestigious Richard Mille Art Prize and $60,000.
  • Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by May 31.
  • Who can apply: Nationals and residents of GCC countries and nationals of India.

This year’s theme explores how cultures, histories, and ecologies overlap. Artists are encouraged to design works that reflect:

  • The Concept: Like the sea, culture is layered and constantly evolving through migration, encounter, and return.
  • The Location: Artworks will be placed in the outdoor spaces beneath the museum’s iconic dome, stretching from the Damascene fountain to the shallow pools.

Key dates

  • May 31, 2026: Application deadline via the Louvre Abu Dhabi website.
  • November 2026: Exhibition opening featuring the shortlisted artists.
  • December 2026: Grand prize winner announcement.

By including India in this year’s call, Louvre Abu Dhabi is strengthening the historical and cultural ties between the UAE and the South Asian subcontinent, turning the museum into a global stage for “confluence.”
