New FIFA football game drops June 11: Play the World Cup for free on Netflix

Football fans will soon be able to experience the FIFA World Cup from their living rooms as FIFA prepares to launch a new official video game on Netflix Games.

Called FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, the title will be released on June 11, the same day the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off across the US, Canada and Mexico.

Available exclusively to Netflix subscribers at no extra cost, it will not require consoles or mandatory in-app purchases.

The game allows players to choose from all 48 World Cup teams, compete across 16 tournament stadiums, and play with a roster featuring more than 1,200 footballers.

Game modes

The video game will feature:

  • Single-player mode
  • Online multiplayer with friends

One of the game’s standout features is its smartphone-based controller system. Players can connect to a TV by scanning a QR code and use their phones to control gameplay. Up to four people can play together. The game will be available on mobile devices (iOS and Android) through Netflix Games.

FIFA says the launch is just the beginning of a broader gaming strategy, with additional features and support for more platforms expected in future updates.

The release comes as anticipation builds for the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup, which begins on June 11 and will be the first tournament to feature 48 national teams.
