New Year’s Eve: Here’s your revelry guide

New Year’s Eve in Dubai is one of the most fun-filled and also the most intense events of the whole year. Frankly, even we haven’t completely figured out how to navigate this crazy day but that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to be part of the party and we’re sure you don’t want to miss out either.

Which is why, being the sweethearts that we are, we’ve got everything you need to know about the smashing city-wide celebration, right here. Consider this your toolkit of sorts and trust us to guide you towards a memorable and safe New Year’s Eve.

The fun – the best firework shows and concerts:

Burj Khalifa

‘Eve of Wonder’, in true Dubai fashion, is an extravaganza of fireworks, lights, lasers and pyrotechnics covering all of Downtown Dubai. Register with the U by Emaar app and get an exclusive QR code to be up close and personal with the action or make a reservation in any of the fountain-side restaurants in the Dubai Mall or Souk Al Bahar to get the perfect view.

Expo 2020

Fireworks, lights and projections are just the start of this incredible show. You don’t want to miss Dimitri Vegas and Armin Van Burren as they play out electrifying sets before and after the ball drops. A 13-hour celebration  starting at 5pm on December 31 ending at 4am on January 1, 2022 with three firework displays. It’s going to be the world’s greatest show.

Global Village

Global Village is celebrating the New Year not once, not twice, but eight times with cultural shows and firework displays in eight different country pavilions. Australia at 5pm, Philippines at 8pm, Thailand at 9pm, Bangladesh at 10pm, India at 10.30pm and Pakistan at 11pm, UAE at 12pm and finally Russia at 1am (on January 1, 2022) – this is the line up.

Global Village is only open to ladies and families on December 31

Atlantis The Palm

You can ring in 2022 at Atlantis The Palm dancing away to Robbie Williams’ tunes as he belts out a 70-minute performance accompanied by spectacular fireworks. The show is exclusively for the New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner attendees.

Dubai Festival City Mall

DFC is offering a concert spectacle with as many as 20 acts lined up, including Lebanese-Armenian music legend Guy Manoukian, Lebanese pop singer Yara, French-Algerian singer and actor Faudel, Mario Reyes from The Gypsy Kings Family, Hanine Y Son Cubano,  Mohamad Samih, Boogie Breeze and SS.H.A.N.A. The IMAGINE shows plus two firework shows. It’s insane.

Bluewaters Island

The Ain Dubai Seaside Plaza will have a myriad of exciting activities including live music, good food, a firework display and a drone show which can be viewed from the top of the tallest observation deck in the world. It’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else.

A few other easy-to-access spots include Al Seef, La Mer and Town Square Dubai.

Safety and protocols:

So, you know where to go to find the party, but to enter it, here are some rules you’ll need to follow.

  • Wear your mask at all times.
  • Stay socially distanced.
  • Repeat 1 and 2 and remember that a Dh3000 fine is on the other side if you don’t.

Teams from RTA, Dubai Police, Dubai Ambulance and Dubai Civil Defence will work together to maintain security and keep the peace.

There you have it.

Let’s all make some incredible memories that salute the year past and welcome the year to come.

Cheers to 2022!
