The UAE has officially announced the adjusted working hours for the public sector during the holy month of Ramadan in 2025. According to the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, employees in ministries and federal entities will observe the following schedule:

• Monday to Thursday: 9:00 am to 2:30 pm
• Friday: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm

This adjustment reflects the UAE’s commitment to accommodating the spiritual practices of its workforce during Ramadan. The authority also mentioned that flexible work arrangements might continue, allowing certain employees to work remotely on Fridays, with up to 70% of the workforce permitted to do so, depending on specific guidelines..

As for the private sector, the UAE labour law mandates a reduction of two working hours per day during Ramadan. However, specific timings may vary based on company policies and operational requirements. Employers are encouraged to communicate any changes in working hours to their employees promptly.

Ramadan in 2025 is expected to begin on March 1, subject to the moon sighting. During this period, Muslims worldwide engage in fasting from dawn to sunset, along with increased prayers and reflection. The UAE’s adjustment of working hours aims to support employees in fulfilling their religious duties while maintaining productivity.
