Floods have caused widespread devastation
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports that the death toll from nationwide floods has risen to 972 since late June. The victims include 547 men, 266 children, and 159 women. Another 1,062 people have been reported injured across the country.
The floods have caused widespread devastation, with authorities confirming that 8,481 homes have been destroyed. The loss of 6,509 heads of livestock has further compounded the crisis in rural areas, where farming is the main source of income.
In Punjab province, more than 2.7 million people have been evacuated as floodwaters continue to surge through towns and villages. In Sindh, an additional 163,000 residents have been moved to safety. Officials warn that the number of displaced individuals is likely to rise as heavy monsoon rains persist.
The extensive damage to farmland has compounded hardship for communities already struggling below the poverty line, threatening food security and long-term economic stability in affected regions.
