Saddle up: Dubai launches first sand equestrian track in Hatta

Horse lovers now have a new reason to head to the mountains. Dubai Municipality has unveiled the emirate’s first-ever sand equestrian track in Hatta, offering riders a safe and scenic place to explore the area’s rugged beauty on horseback.

The details
The track’s first phase stretches 2.54 km long and 3 metres wide, designed for equestrian enthusiasts, amateurs, and visitors alike. Riders can either hire horses on-site or bring their own to enjoy an adventurous experience surrounded by Hatta’s dramatic mountain landscape.

Boost for tourism & community
The project is part of the Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta’s long-term vision to grow the area into a hub for tourism, sports, and local business. Beyond offering a unique sporting experience, the new track is expected to create opportunities in hospitality, retail, and equestrian services, giving local SMEs a boost.

Preserving heritage
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said the initiative not only promotes tourism but also celebrates the heritage of horsemanship, a tradition deeply tied to Emirati identity.

Built to global standards
The sand equestrian track meets international safety and quality benchmarks, adding to Dubai’s growing list of lifestyle and leisure offerings.

With its mix of adventure, heritage, and community impact, the track is set to become one of Hatta’s most exciting new attractions.
