Sharjah is set to welcome a new eco-luxury hospitality destination with the opening of Nomad in Kalba on December 31, offering a rare off-grid retreat experience in the UAE.

Developed and managed by Sharjah Collection, Nomad has entered its final operational readiness phase. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi recently conducted an inspection visit to the site, reviewing preparations ahead of its official launch.

Nestled within Kalba’s mountainous landscape, Nomad has been designed as a low-impact, off-grid destination that prioritises nature, privacy and minimal intervention. The retreat offers an alternative to conventional urban hospitality, focusing on digital disconnection and immersive outdoor living.

The destination features 20 eco-luxury accommodation trailers, built locally using natural materials and powered by a hybrid energy system that incorporates solar power. In keeping with its sustainability ethos, Nomad follows a no-Wi-Fi, lights-off approach, encouraging guests to disconnect from digital distractions while preserving night-sky visibility — a concept still uncommon in the UAE’s hospitality sector.

Nomad adopts a low-density development model, with accommodation units spread across the terrain to respect natural contours and minimise environmental impact. Pathways and circulation routes are designed to keep the surrounding landscape central to the guest experience.

Supporting its outdoor-focused philosophy, Nomad offers 7.44km of mountain hiking trails and 4.39km of dedicated mountain biking trails. Optional activities include birdwatching, outdoor yoga sessions and guided stargazing, all aligned with the natural rhythms of the site.

Positioned as a nature-led escape, Nomad aims to redefine luxury hospitality in Sharjah by blending sustainability, seclusion and immersive outdoor experiences within Kalba’s scenic mountain setting.
