World’s first mega musical ‘Rajadhiraaj’ brings Shri Krishna’s legacy alive in Dubai

Dubai Opera witnessed a theatrical spectacle on Thursday, March 13, when ‘Rajadhiraaj: Love Life Leela’, the world’s first mega-musical on Indian deity Shri Krishna, premiered to a packed audience. The Broadway-style production captivated audiences with its stunning performances, intricate storytelling, and breathtaking visuals.
Running until March 16, the musical vividly captures the essence of Krishna’s multifaceted persona through a dazzling combination of live singing, choreography, and larger-than-life set designs.
The production features an impressive cast of over 180 artists, 60 dancers, and 20 original songs, with 1,800 custom-made costumes adding to the visual spectacle.
This enchanting musical is helmed by an acclaimed creative team, including noted Indian lyricist, screenwriter and Padma Shri awardee, Prasoon Joshi, director Shruti Sharma, and music composer duo Sachin-Jigar.
Choreographers Bertwin D’Souza and Shampa Gopikrishna have brought the story to life through crafted dance sequences, while Omung Kumar’s set designs and Neeta Lulla’s costumes add to the show’s grandeur.
“Through this musical, we aim to share the universal values of courage, wisdom, and love. Audiences will experience three distinct forms of Shri Krishna — Bal Swaroop, Dwarkadheesh, and Shrinathji — through a storytelling format never seen before on stage,” explained Bhoomi Nathwani, producer of the show.
The musical has already received rave reviews in India, with its Dubai debut drawing praise from the Indian diaspora.
