Abu Dhabi T10 2025: Amir hails Khawaja Nafay’s focus and firepower, backs him for Pakistan future

Muhammad Amir is back, and back with a bang. The Pakistani fast-bowling star made a flawless return to the Abu Dhabi T10, tearing through the UAE Bull lineup with a brilliant four-wicket haul in his first appearance of the season.

But it wasn’t just his own performance Amir was talking about. He was full of praise for Khawaja Nafay, who has been on absolute fire this tournament. The power-hitter has smashed 144 runs in four innings, including 12 sixes, and here’s the kicker,  he hasn’t been dismissed even once.

“He is extremely hardworking, and that is his biggest strength,” Amir said.

“If he keeps his focus, he can soon become a key contributor to Pakistan cricket.”

On Quetta Qavalry’s unbeaten run

Quetta Qavalry have dominated the season so far, booking the first Playoff spot after a string of wins. But Amir says there’s still plenty to do.

“Yes, we have won all our games so far, but sometimes when you keep winning early, the challenges still increase later. I hope we can keep this momentum going.”

His bowling strategy

Amir also opened up about the mindset behind his success in the fast-paced T10 format.

“You have to assess the pitch and see which ball will be the most effective. In this format it’s all about execution. I focus more on taking wickets rather than containing runs, that gives me a better chance.”

Even after missing the first three games, Amir has taken five wickets in his last two outings with an impressive 7.25 economy rate. But he insists the credit belongs to the full bowling unit.

“Khuzaima, Jason Holder and Abbas Afridi have been doing really well. That reduces pressure on me. In T10, batsmen can win matches, but a strong bowling attack can win the whole tournament.”

What’s next for Qavalry

Quetta Qavalry return to action on Thursday, facing Vista Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, as they look to extend their unbeaten streak into the Playoffs.
