Eid travel alert: UAE airlines urge travellers to arrive 3 hours before flight

UAE airlines are advising passengers to arrive at least three hours before their flight as airports brace for heavy traffic during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Emirates Alert:

  • Dubai International Airport (DXB) is expected to see peak departures on March 28-29 and April 5-6, with over 80,000 travellers daily.
  • Expect congestion around Terminal 3 — allow extra time for airport transfers.

Etihad Airways Advisory:

  • Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi will experience increased footfall from March 20 – April 13 (Spring Break) and late March (Eid Al Fitr).
  • Other peak periods include Hajj (May), Eid Al Adha (June), and Summer Break (June-August).
  • Travellers should use online check-in and digital services for a smoother experience.

What passengers need to know:

  • Arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before departure.
  • Check live traffic updates and plan for possible delays.
  • Use online check-in and self-service kiosks to save time.
  • Verify your boarding time and gate well in advance.
