MagoMigue weaves magic into Expo 2020

Do you feel utterly marvelled by the world of illusions? Does magic enchant you beyond measure? Here’s your chance to see the master performing it all live!

‘Concerto for Piano and Pasteboards’, an extraordinary magic show by Spanish world champion illusionist Miguel Puga, better known as MagoMigue, will delight the audience at the Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The performance will take place from the 8th till the 10th of December at 5.30 pm.

Joining forces with a pianist Paz Sabater and actor Javier Parra, the three will blur the boundaries of their artistic talents to bring flair, magic, and illusion to Expo, besides the rhythm of songs by Manuel de Falla, Federico García Lorca, and Yann Tiersen among others.

This unusual concert with three players, six hands, a piano, and a deck of cards begins when a magician, counting the white keys of a grand piano, notes that there were 52, the same number as cards in a deck.

Living through magic

Born in Granada, Spain, in 1968, MagoMigue became fascinated by the world of magic at the age of four. Ten years later, he performed at the Manuel de Falla Centre. From that moment on, he decided to live for and through magic. Taught by two of the greatest Spanish magicians of all time, Arturo de Ascanio and Juan Tamariz and also trained as an actor, between 1985 and 1987 he joined the theatre company, Stable de Granada. In 1988 he moved to Madrid, where he studied Dramatic Art and Teaching.

In 2003, MagoMigue became ‘World Champion of Card Magic’ in the city of The Hague, in the framework of the FIMS World Congress (Fédération International des Sociétés Magiques).

With an extensive career, including starting a TV programme on Spanish television, MagoMigue has created and directed several shows which he dubs as ‘DraMagical Art’ and toured different countries such as China, the US, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Chile and so on. He combines his work with continuous training while writing treatises on magic aimed at professionals. In them, he deals with the analysis of games, psychology, improvisation, staging, style, execution, and the combination of different techniques with the sole mission of transferring his magical legacy to future generations.

Cultural show with 100 performances

The Spain Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will present a cultural programme with the presence of 32 Spanish companies, more than 200 artists and close to 100 performances. It will take place both in the Spain Pavilion and on the main stages of the Expo site (Jubilee Stage, Terra Auditorium, Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, and Earth Stage).
