The UAE has announced its transition into a four and a half day work week for federal government employees. Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday will shape the new weekend.

All Federal governments departments will move to the new weekend January 1, 2022 onwards.

Monday to Thursday workdays will begin from 7.30am and end at 3.30pm. While Friday’s working hours are from 7.30am to 12pm.

The new extended weekend comes as part of the UAE government’s efforts to uplift workers and augment better work-life balance, while increasing performance to advance the nation’s competitiveness.
