Nigeria’s Country Day celebration at Expo 2020 took a detour to Downtown Dubai to set the runways and hearts on fire at the Arise Fashion Week (AFW) 2021.
The AFW was the place to be if you ever wanted to experience the best of Nigerian culture through fashion and music.
Do you remember the first time you looked into a kaleidoscope? How the vibrant colours and the geometric designs halted time as you gazed in wonder?
That is exactly how Nigeria’s top designers imprinted their culture into the memories of the attendees.
On display were creative forces like Lisa Folawiyo, Ituen Basi, Banke Kuku, Onalaja, Tjwho, Lagos Space Programme, and Huddaya.
And the coup de grace was the sight of British supermodel Naomi Campbell gliding on the runway modelling vibrant outfits.
To cap the celebration, the show featured singer Akon and rapper D’Banj.
Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’banj, set the mood with his classic hits — Oliver Twist and Fall In Love.
