New AI-powered fountain in Abu Dhabi will shoot water 75 metres into sky
A striking new waterfront landmark is taking shape in Abu Dhabi, as Mubadala begins construction on a futuristic fountain experience set to transform Al Maryah Island.
Located just outside The Galleria Al Maryah Island, the development will centre around a glowing 30-metre sphere, brought to life by more than 1,000 AI-powered water jets and an immersive soundtrack composed by Ramin Djawadi, known for his work on Game of Thrones.
Designed to reshape the island’s coastline into a vibrant lifestyle destination, the project will combine choreographed water shows, ambient lighting and cooling waterfront spaces. Jets of water will soar up to 75 metres into the air, synchronised with music and visual effects.
The fountain concept has been created by WET Design, the firm behind globally recognised attractions such as the Dubai Fountain and the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas.
Upgrades at Al Maryah Waterfront
Beyond the headline feature, the wider waterfront upgrade will include a sea-level boardwalk, shaded cooling zones, new dining spots and public event spaces. Redesigned steps along the promenade will offer prime viewing areas for visitors looking to take in the shows.
Several restaurants along the promenade, including Isabel Mayfair and L’Eto, are expected to offer front-row views of the spectacle.
While an official opening date has yet to be confirmed, the revamped Al Maryah Waterfront is set to become one of the capital’s standout leisure destinations.
