Over 1,500 gamers to battle for Dh200,000 in Dubai Police Esports Tournament

Dubai Police has announced that more than 1,500 players from around the world will take part in the fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament, set to run from August 14 to 17 at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. The competition offers a total prize pool of Dh200,000.

The details were revealed during a press conference at the Cycling Hub in the Dubai Police Officers Club, attended by senior police officials, Dubai Sports Council representatives, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism executives, professional gamers, and esports enthusiasts.

Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said the tournament aligns with Dubai Police’s strategy to boost community awareness in the digital sphere while promoting safety, security, and overall well-being. With gaming’s popularity surging among youth, the event aims to encourage balanced play, caution in online interactions, and awareness of potential cybercrime risks.

He noted that the tournament serves as a platform to educate gamers about online fraud, extortion, and the dangers of sharing personal data with strangers during in-game chats. Dubai Police will also highlight resources such as the “Ecrime” platform for reporting incidents and the online awareness hub for cyber safety education.

Rashid Mohammed Abdullah from the Dubai Sports Council said their participation underscores a commitment to hosting events that engage and empower youth while promoting community safety.

Registration remains open to male and female players aged between 10 and 35.
