UAE issues travel advisory for three countries over Ebola concerns
The UAE has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan as health authorities continue to monitor Ebola-related developments in parts of Africa.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised travellers to postpone trips to the affected countries unless necessary, highlighting the importance of taking precautionary measures as regional health concerns persist.
For UAE citizens currently residing in or visiting the three countries, the ministry called for heightened vigilance and strict adherence to health and safety guidelines issued by local authorities. Travellers were also encouraged to register with the government’s ‘I’m Here’ service and maintain regular contact with UAE diplomatic missions where available.
The advisory comes as UAE health authorities reaffirmed the country’s readiness to respond to any emerging public health threats.
Several countries in the region have already introduced precautionary measures. Bahrain recently announced a temporary suspension on the entry of foreign travellers arriving from Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan. Jordan has also introduced similar measures.
While no domestic health threat has been reported in the UAE, authorities continue to stress the importance of awareness, preparedness and compliance with official travel guidance.
