The UAE’s first integrated resort is set to make an unforgettable debut. Wynn Al Marjan Island has announced that it will open with an exclusive production by the world-renowned immersive theatre company Punchdrunk, marking the group’s first-ever performance in the Middle East and North Africa.

Best known for the global hit Sleep No More, Punchdrunk will create an original, interactive production exclusively for the resort, giving visitors a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience when Wynn Al Marjan Island opens next year.

Known for transforming audiences into part of the story, the British theatre company has staged award-winning productions in cities including New York and Shanghai. Its new show for the UAE will be created exclusively for Wynn Al Marjan Island.

A theatre experience unlike anything else

The original production will be conceived and directed by Felix Barrett MBE, founder and artistic director of Punchdrunk.

Unlike a traditional theatre performance, guests will be able to choose between two completely different ways to experience the show.

One option offers a classic seated theatre performance, while the other allows visitors to wander through hidden rooms, backstage spaces and interactive sets as the story unfolds around them, creating a fully immersive experience.

The purpose-built venue will also play a starring role, featuring elegant Art Deco-inspired interiors influenced by Hollywood’s golden age.

Opening in 2027

The immersive production will debut alongside Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first integrated resort, when it opens in 2027.

While the resort was originally expected to launch in spring, Wynn Resorts recently indicated that the opening could be pushed back slightly because of regional developments. An updated opening timeline is expected to be announced in the coming months.

Once it opens, the resort is set to become one of the UAE’s biggest entertainment and tourism destinations, with luxury accommodation, restaurants, live entertainment and the UAE’s first licensed casino resort.
