8 hidden beaches in the UAE that are perfect for a quiet escape

Looking for a quieter stretch of sand away from packed beaches and busy promenades? The UAE is home to plenty of hidden coastal gems where you can swap the crowds for crystal-clear waters, dramatic mountain views and peaceful surroundings.

From secret coves in Dubai to untouched beaches along the east coast and remote island escapes in Abu Dhabi, here are some of the country’s best lesser-known beaches to add to your summer bucket list.

1. Al Sufouh Beach, Dubai

Often referred to as Secret Beach, Al Sufouh Beach remains one of Dubai’s best-kept secrets despite growing in popularity with residents. It is also known as Black Palace Beach due to its proximity to prime real estate.

Hidden behind a line of palm trees between Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah, this peaceful beach offers uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s skyline. The calm, shallow waters make it ideal for families, while the quiet setting is perfect for anyone looking to escape the city’s busier beaches.

Just remember to pack snacks, water and everything you’ll need, as cafes or facilities are at a distance.

2. Soul Beach, Abu Dhabi

If you’re after soft white sand and turquoise water without the crowds, Soul Beach on Saadiyat Island is a great choice.

Located in the Mamsha Al Saadiyat community, the beach is beautifully maintained and offers a far more relaxed atmosphere than the capital’s popular Corniche beaches.

3. Shuweihat Island, Abu Dhabi

For those willing to venture off the beaten track, Shuweihat Island is one of the UAE’s most spectacular coastal destinations.

Located in Al Dhafra, the area is famous for its striking sandstone cliffs, hidden caves and crystal-clear waters, making it a favourite among photographers and adventure seekers.

4. Heart Beach, Khor Fakkan

Tucked away along the east coast, Heart Beach rewards visitors with incredible views of the Gulf of Oman and the rugged Hajar Mountains.

Getting there requires a short hike or boat ride, but the secluded setting and peaceful atmosphere make the extra effort worthwhile.

5. Khor Kalba Beach, Sharjah

Nature lovers will appreciate Khor Kalba, where mangrove forests meet the sea.

With very few facilities, this beach is ideal for those seeking privacy and untouched natural beauty. Keep an eye out for sea turtles, one of the area’s biggest attractions.

6. Dibba and Al Aqah, Fujairah

Surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, Dibba and Al Aqah are among the UAE’s best destinations for snorkelling and diving.

The crystal-clear waters are home to colourful marine life, while nearby Dibba Rock is a popular underwater hotspot for divers.

7. Hamriyah Coast, Ajman

If you’re looking for long stretches of almost-empty shoreline, head north of Ajman’s city centre towards the Hamriyah coastline.

Despite being close to an industrial area, this beach is surprisingly peaceful, with soft white sand and clear water. It’s a favourite spot for those wanting a quiet beach day away from the crowds.

8. Kite Beach Centre, Umm Al Quwain

For a laid-back beach escape, Kite Beach Centre offers a relaxed boho vibe complete with hammocks, sun loungers and watersports.

Whether you’re planning to paddleboard, camp overnight or simply unwind by the sea, it’s one of the Northern Emirates’ most underrated coastal destinations.

Before you go

Many of these beaches are remote and have limited facilities, so it’s worth bringing plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and any other essentials. If you’re planning to camp or stay until sunset, be sure to check local regulations before setting up.
