Etihad Rail’s passenger service is officially up and running, marking a major milestone for public transport in the UAE. The inaugural train departed Fujairah for Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, completing the journey in just 105 minutes.

Planning to hop on board? Here’s everything you need to know about the stations, ticket prices, onboard facilities and what to expect during the journey.

Where does the journey start?

The Fujairah Passenger Station is located in Hilal City, around 12 minutes from Fujairah International Airport. The station offers parking, taxi pick-up points, waiting areas, cafés, retail outlets, ticket kiosks and a premium lounge. Elevators and escalators provide easy access to the platforms.

How do you book tickets?

Tickets can be booked through the Etihad Rail website, mobile app or self-service kiosks at the station.

To mark the launch, Etihad Rail is offering 50% introductory fares:

  • Comfort Class: Dh55
  • Premium Class: Dh120

Passengers can use either a digital ticket or a printed pass to access the platform.

What is the train like?

Each train accommodates up to 400 passengers and travels at speeds of up to 200km/h. Comfort Class offers spacious seating, while Premium Class includes wider reclining seats and complimentary snacks and beverages.

All passengers have access to free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, power sockets, tray tables and luggage storage.

What will you see during the journey?

The route showcases some of the UAE’s most scenic landscapes.

Passengers travel through the Hajar Mountains, passing Al Bithnah Fort, farms, palm groves and traditional villages before crossing nine tunnels carved through the mountains.

Where does the train arrive?

The service terminates at the new Abu Dhabi Passenger Station in Mohammed Bin Zayed City.

The station is equipped with parking, taxis, bus connections, cafés, waiting areas and shuttle bus services for onward travel.

How long is the journey?

The trip between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi takes approximately 105 minutes, making it one of the fastest ways to travel between the UAE’s east coast and the capital.

Why is this launch significant?

The new passenger service marks the beginning of the UAE’s national railway network for travellers. As the network expands, Etihad Rail is expected to connect more emirates, reduce road travel and provide a faster, more sustainable public transport option for millions of passengers each year.
