Covid-19 guidelines announced in UAE for Eid Al Adha
Authorities in the UAE have announced the Covid safety protocols that worshippers must follow while offering the special prayers on the first day of Eid Al Adha. Muslims will offer the prayer on July 9 at mosques and open-air places of worship called musallahs. According to National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) the duration of the prayer and sermon will be limited to 20 minutes. It will be mandatory for worshippers to wear masks and maintain a distance of at least one metre from one another. They must bring their own mats. Entry and exit to places of worship will be supervised by the police and volunteers to prevent crowding. Musallahs and mosques will open after the Fajr prayer on the day of Eid.
Spaces outside places of worship may be prepared to receive worshippers in a socially distanced manner. Parks and other areas nearby can be used to receive additional worshippers. Gatherings and handshakes before and after prayer remain prohibited. The authority also has issued covid safety guildelines for residents that must be followed during Eid Al Adha weekend.
Sacrificial meat, gifts and food are allowed to be distributed among neighbours. However, they must be put in clean, sterilised bags or boxes before distribution. Residents are advised to get a PCR test done within 72 hours of Eid to ensure the health and safety of the community.
People returning from hajj should follow precautionary measures and stay at home for seven days after arrival, the briefing heard.Conducting a PCR test on return from Saudi Arabia to airports in the UAE will be optional, but is mandatory if there is a suspected case of Covid-19
.A test will be mandatory, however, for all pilgrims on the fourth day of their return or as soon as symptoms appear.
