New cultural icon unveiled in Dubai: Museum of Art to rise above the creek

Dubai is preparing to unveil its next architectural and cultural masterpiece, the Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA).

Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the ambitious project will quite literally rise above the waters of Dubai Creek, redefining the city’s skyline and creative spirit.

Designed by world-renowned Japanese architect Tadao Ando, the museum is a work of art in itself. Inspired by the sea and pearls, timeless symbols of Dubai’s heritage, DUMA will stand as a shimmering bridge between the emirate’s past and its creative future.

“Culture and art are the soul of a city and a lens through which its progress is seen,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

“The Dubai Museum of Art will be a new beacon for the city, enhancing its arts scene and further strengthening its global cultural status.”

What to Expect

Set to rise five stories above the water, the museum will feature:

  • Art galleries across the first and second floors, showcasing global and regional talent.
  • A restaurant and VIP lounge on the third floor with spectacular creek views.
  • Talks, panel discussions, art fairs, and educational programmes designed to inspire and nurture creative talent.
  • A library and study rooms, alongside world-class training initiatives to cultivate the next generation of artists and cultural leaders.

Expected to open soon, DUMA will join Dubai’s growing list of cultural landmarks, from Alserkal Avenue to the Museum of the Future, further solidifying the city’s place as a global hub for creativity and innovation.
