From Louvre Abu Dhabi to Yas Island: How to spend your Eid break in the capital

Abu Dhabi has prepared an extensive line-up of cultural celebrations, family entertainment and immersive artistic experiences during the Eid Al Adha holidays, with museums, heritage centres and leisure destinations across the emirate unveiling special programmes for residents and tourists.

Leading the celebrations, Louvre Abu Dhabi will host a series of interactive experiences combining visual arts, film and wellness beneath its iconic architectural dome.

Among the featured activities is a floating meditation experience designed to create a calming multi-sensory atmosphere, where participants can join guided relaxation sessions while resting on floating mats.

The museum will also stage an audio-visual production exploring themes linked to artificial intelligence, space exploration and humanity’s future, featuring contributions from internationally recognised creatives, including Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi.

Another highlight is the screening of The Great Journey, a film following the emotional pilgrimage of a father and son travelling from France to Makkah, reflecting values associated with faith, sacrifice and family during Eid.

Interactive storytelling sessions

Meanwhile, Zayed National Museum will launch its Eid Joy celebrations from May 27 to 31, focusing on Emirati identity, poetry and traditional arts.

Visitors will be invited to experience interactive storytelling sessions and live poetry performances where poets create personalised verses inspired by guests’ memories and experiences in Abu Dhabi. The programme is being organised in partnership with Experience Abu Dhabi.

Traditional Emirati customs will also take centre stage through majlis-inspired gatherings featuring Nabati poetry, live folk music, Emirati coffee ceremonies and performances of traditional arts including Al Ayala and Al Harbiyah.

At the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, Eid activities will combine creativity and environmental learning through interactive workshops for children and families. Visitors can participate in biscuit decorating, henna art, palm weaving and nature-themed craft sessions while exploring the museum’s sustainable architectural design.

Family attractions

For thrill-seekers and families looking for entertainment attractions, Yas Island is expected to remain one of the busiest destinations during the holiday period.

Ferrari World Yas Island will offer adrenaline-filled experiences through its high-speed rollercoasters and record-breaking rides, while Yas Waterworld will showcase new water attractions, including one of the UAE’s tallest waterslide towers.

Families can also explore immersive entertainment zones at Warner Bros. World Yas Island, where visitors can interact with globally recognised film and cartoon characters across themed lands inspired by popular franchises.

Officials say the diverse Eid programme reflects Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to create experiences that combine entertainment, education and cultural heritage while strengthening community spirit during one of the year’s most important celebrations.
