The first good news for the year is here!
According to Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, member of the International Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, the holy month of Ramadan will begin on April 2, 2022.
This means that Eid Al Fitr can be expected to start on Monday, May 2, 2022!
According to the UAE holiday calendar, the UAE residents will have Eid Al Fitr holidays from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3.
So, what does that mean for your holidays?
If your weekend starts on Saturday, you could expect a five-day weekend from April 30, 2022 to Shawwal 3, based on the Islamic calendar.
Maybe it’s time to start planning peeps since Eid is just four months away!
And in case you want to plan waaaay in advance, here are all the public holidays you can expect this year.
- Gregorian New Year: 1 January
- Eid Al Fitr: From 29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal* (4 days)
- Arafah day and Eid Al Adha (Feast of Sacrifice): From 9 to 12 Dhu al Hijjah* (4 days)
- Hijri New Year (Islamic New Year): 1 Muharram – 12 August in 2021 and on 30 July in 2022
- Prophet Mohammed’s birthday: 21 October in 2021 and on 8 October in 2022
- Commemoration Day: 1 December (previously known as Martyr’s Day and was observed on 30 November)
- National Day: 2 and 3 December (2 days).
