New Dh50 banknote: UAE’s homage to founders

A new Dh50 banknote has been issued by the UAE Central Bank to commemorate the country’s 50th National Day.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, attended the unveiling of the third issue of the note on Tuesday.

The banknote depicts a picture of the founding father, His Highness Sheikh Zayed, and the other founding rulers. It also features a number of national and historical monuments.
The redesign is in honour of Sheikh Zayed and the founding rulers and their commitment to unifying the nation.

The anterior of the new note has a portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed and a commemorative picture of the founding rulers signing the Union charter. It also displays Wahat Al Karama – the memorial to the heroes of the Emirates – on the left side.

The reverse has an image of Sheikh Zayed signing the Union agreement coupled with a picture of the Etihad Museum, which is where the Union was established and the UAE flag was raised for the first time.

The design has different shades of violet and luminescent blue colours at the note’s core, along with drawings and inscription
