New year’s eve and fireworks: a match made in Dubai

Apologies (or not) for the gentle reminder, but 2021 has nearly come to an end, and 2022 is approaching us with alarming swiftness. If New Year’s Eve also gives you an existential crisis, we’re all part of the same club.

If you’re one of those who feels like they’ve got 2022 already figured out, you have our respect and, quite frankly, slight jealousy. But for those of you out there with New Year’s blues, we have just the fix that will turn those blues into technicolor.

As is tradition, this New Year’s Eve will see dazzling firework displays. Spectacular celebrations of the year past, the hardships faced and the victories attained, these firework shows are a thing to witness with your loved ones.

We’ve curated a list of the best spots to watch the New Year’s fireworks.

Burj Khalifa: If we’re talking about big, bold and bright, the Burj Khalifa firework display takes the cake. Set along the theme of ‘Eve of Wonder’, this much-awaited show will feature incredible fireworks, music, pyrotechnics and the debut of a brand-new laser installation that will light up the Dubai Fountain. Talk about going all out.

You can view the show from multiple locations throughout Downtown Dubai, including the Dubai Mall, the Address Hotel and Downtown Boulevard.

You can grab a lovely table in the balcony of one of the restaurants in Souk Al Bahar and ring in the new year the right way.

Burj Al Arab: Viewed best from the sandy shores of Kite Beach, this firework show is one you don’t want to miss. The Burj Al Arab show is a grand display for the Palm Jumeirah.

Ain Dubai at Bluewaters Island: The newly unveiled crown jewel of the Bluewaters Island, Ain Dubai, will stand tall and proud as the fireworks go off.

Falling in the category of ‘Only in Dubai’, you can kick back, relax and watch the show sitting in a luxurious cabin on top of the tallest observation wheel in the world.

Atlantis, The Palm: One of the most highly-anticipated firework shows, Atlantis, The Palm will light up to the tunes of Robbie Williams this New Year’s Eve.

Expo 2020: You can celebrate the new year with the rest of the world at the Expo 2020 and take a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the spectacular melting pot of cultures that is Dubai.

Riding the waves with a view:

The RTA has announced a unique chance to view the New Year’s Eve celebrations across Dubai from the sea.

That’s right. You can watch the grand spectacle of lights and colour from a comfortable seat in the Dubai Ferry, waterbus or Abra.

Which firework show are you most excited for?
